For years France have exported their Cognac, while they have been drinking Armagnac themselves.
The tradition of Armagnac has for centuries cared for the production of a rich, soft and ripe brandy. In fact Armagnac is called the "velvety". No other brandy anywhere in the world dares to compare with this unique beverage.

Armagnac is the oldest brandy of France. Already in the 15th century - 250 years before Cognac - people in Gascony took advantage of the region's exceptional soil and climate to produce a white wine, which was later distilled to Armagnac.

The way Armagnac is distilled is a bit special. Unlike the process for Cognac, this process  results in lover alcohol and more aroma. Due to the fact that the alcohol is lower, less water is added to dilute the younger types of Armagnac, which often makes them more aromatic. The older Armagnac needs more water added.
